10 Personality types of Graphic Designers – part 1 of 2

Just like all five fingers of the human hand are not the same, all graphic designers are unalike. The field of graphic design is blessed with immense designers, each endowed with a unique talent. All designers have their own style of working, thought processes, likes and dislikes and above all their own distinctive personality. Every graphic designer tackles clients in a different way.
Personality is a set of characteristics, attributes or traits of the person distinguishing him from others. Nowadays, designers of various personalities are found. Let us have a humorous examination of the different types of graphic designers and how are they different from one another.

Following are 10 personality types of designers resembling with movie or cartoon characters. Read and discover which one you are.

1. The Perfectionist “Monk”

You might remember the character “Adrian Monk” played by Tony Shalhoub from the TV series “The Monk”. The personality of Adrian Monk is that of a perfectionist. The way he tries to keep everything clean and perfect as possible is hilarious. Similarly, some graphic designers are analogous to The Monk. They want every project to be done with perfection and precision. Extreme obsession with their work makes them behave compulsively. Although being a perfectionist is good, it can also be stressful for designers to achieve absolute flawlessness.

2. The Ingenious “Sherlock”

Almost everyone is familiar with Ol’ Sherlock Holmes, the most astute detective in the fictional world. The creative and ingenious ways in which he used to solve the toughest of mysteries is of amazement. Some designers are akin to this personality…clever, resourceful and ingenious in their work. Designers with this type of personality have unique problem solving skills. When face with the toughest of design projects, they execute it Sherlock style with astuteness and inventiveness.

3. The Brainy “Dexter”

There are nerds in every work profession, and graphic designing has its own share of Dexters and Dorksters. You may easily recall the famous cartoon character “Dexter”, the boy genius. Graphic designers with this personality are usually an ace in the academia and as a result, have a vast in-depth knowledge of graphic designing. They know concepts that even the most experienced designers might not be familiar with.

4. The Friendly “Casper”

Ghosts are usually known to be frightful spirits. But of course with the exception of one, who is popularly known as the “friendly ghost”. Yes, I’m talking about the one and the only “Casper”. He is one ghost that loves to make friends and be sociable. Similarly, designers of this personality type are gregarious and use social media excessively, not just for professional purposes, but for personal use as well. They love to make new friends and connections and just cannot live without a social circle.

5. The Experienced “Papa Smurf”

Many of you might remember the cartoon “Smurfs”. It had this character named “Papa Smurf”. He was one of the oldest and most knowledgeable of the smurfs. He serves as the Smurfs’ leader whom which the Smurfs usually go to when they require counsel and guidance. Designers of this personality type are the experienced campaigners who are distinguished in their field as veterans. Emerging graphic designers look at them as an icon of inspiration and motivation.
